Mangalore: Cong Padayatra welcomed with jaggery, harmony cake at Pumpwell

Mangalore, Jan 30: On behalf of Mangalore City South Constituency, the 73 km four-day long Padayatra from Ullal to Malpe organized by Karnataka Pradesh Congress committee against the ruling BJP government was welcomed in the city with Coastal Karnataka’s special Neera jaggery and cake on Monday January 28 evening.

At Mahaveera Circle, the Congress team lead by J R Lobo welcomed senior leaders like KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar, opposition leader Siddaramaiah, and former union minister C.M.Ibrahim with huge tri-colour garland.

Tiny tots from all religion all put hands together for cutting the harmony cake as a symbol of integrity, with a message of peace and prosperity. 

Ole Bella, made out of sweet Neera, sugarcane jaggery, cake, water were distributed to thousands of Padayatris at the pump well circle. It was arranged under the leadership of Congress leader J R Lobo.

Addressing the gathering KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar said that the fundamentalist BJP government has ruined the religious harmony and integrity of the state. BJP is indulging in unconstitutional practices by supporting fundamentalism. Harmony and brotherhood have been completely disrupted especially in the coastal region.

MLA U T Khader, Congress leader J R Lobo, AICC member P V Mohan, Denis D’Silva, Naveen D'Souza among others were present.
