Udupi, Jan 31: All Law Colleges and Udupi District All College Union together organized ‘Yuva Vidyarthi Hitharakshana Vedike’ at Poorna Prajna College auditorium on Wednesday January 30.

G R Jagadeesh (vice chancellor of Karnataka State Law University, Hubli) said that youth should be encouraged to understand their responsibility towards upholding democracy.

“The concept of communal harmony can be realized through the assembly of youth force in rural areas”, he said.

“Social and political upliftment should be the main aim of the youth rather than individual interest. Patriotism and unity is the strength of our society. Such characters of toleration and cooperation will develop in the initial stage and colleges are the best platform”, he added and called upon students to develop good behavior and unity and to always be ready to help the needy.

"There are 90 to 94 law colleges in the state. The union of law colleges can easily have more than 900 members in the group. This strength will be good enough to fight against evils like corruption and social imbalance. Unity among students will help them question the credibility of qualities within themselves. We should never forget to learn from our experiences. Competition is always different from cooperation. Cooperation is the unique feature that makes bonding much stronger”, he added.

Lastly he said that democracy is the best form of government.

“The democratic set up is made stronger only through strengthening the youth force at all levels and inculcating the ideas of harmony among them”, he concluded.

He welcomed such unions of law colleges and other streams of education form to fight for societal causes.
