Udupi: Two bike riders killed in separate accidents

Udupi, Feb 3: Two bike riders were killed in separate accidents which took place on the National Highway 66 at Kaup and Pangala.

In the incident which took place on Saturday night, the bike rider was killed on spot in a head-on collision with an Omni.

The deceased has been identified as Shivaram Devadiga from Kaup. The pillion rider is said to be critical. Two persons in the Omni were also injured.

As per the information received, the deceased Shivaram was on his way back home after visiting Kambla in Karapady.

In another accident reported on Sunday February 3 morning, a bus hit a two wheeler (Honda Activa) killing the rider killed on spot.

The deceased is identified as Abdul Sharif. He owned a few buses and used to give them on contract.

The incident took place when Abdul was heading towards Muloor from Kaup. The negligence of the bus driver is said to have caused the accident.

As the work of on widening the highway has remained incomplete, many accident take place on NH 66, allege locals.

    Blaming bigger vehicles always is wrong. The bikers are really reckless. They block and not allow vehicles to move freely. Like autoricksaw in the city these bike riders can be seen riding their bikes and suddenly moving in and out of lanes without any notice. Overtaking from wrong side and all sort of gimmick. I have seen them regularly doing this.

    How long this NH66 road will go on constructing, people are loosing their life because of their road .and the bus drivers are agressive while in NH road.after the accident they just run away . Mr shareef is my Brother . it really hurts a lot . every now and then accident in that road . pls govt take some action and complete it faster .
