VHP's Modi as PM chant 'objectionable': Hindu priests

Patna, Feb 11 (IANS): An influential group of Hindu priests Monday objected to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) projecting Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as a prime ministerial candidate in the next general election.

Bharat Sadhu Samaj general secretary Swami Harinarayanand said VHP leader Ashok Singhal's statement in Allahabad last week was "highly objectionable".

"It was against the norms and sanctity of pilgrim places," Harinarayanand told newspersons after returning from the Maha Kumbh in Allahabad.

He was responding to Singhal's statement that Modi enjoys the same popularity as that of first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Claiming that people across the country wanted Modi as prime minister, Singhal also called the Gujarat chief minister "Hindu Hriday Samrat (one who rules Hindu hearts)".

Such a campaign at a pilgrim centre, Harinarayanand said, was against the sanctity of sadhu orders.

    raj, udupi... you maybe not the supporter of BJP but you are supporting indirectly anyway i have nothing to do it, Sangha Pariwar itself is not trusting Modi because in some cases he has shown is colour against is own party people.

    I am not supporter of BJP or NDA, or any other party, I am supporting only the person who have the capacity to develop india, And u think Rahul will be PM? the guy who was having party in the time mumbai blast and always busy with chicks, Grow up dude. Naveen u think DUMB manmohan shuld be next pm, or corrupt sonia or budhhu Rahul so called ghandi, Gujraths development is inspiratuion for all, With out Much Agriculture, with out Liqour Revenue Modi made Gujrath richest state in India, And with Sola power plan we are best in Asia.     Bharat Sadhu Samajaj is an entity of priests has every right to air view as per right to free speach of the Constitution.It does not mean the group represents the Hindu Samaj entirely.Unltimately voters who play decesive role through ballots not BSS.
