Congress defends Afzal Guru's hanging

New Delhi, Feb 11 (IANS): The Congress Monday defended the hanging of parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, saying three separate courts and the Supreme Court had found him guilty.

"Three separate courts found him guilty. The Supreme Court upheld it," Congress spokesperson Sandeep Dikshit told reporters.

The Congress has drawn flak over the timing of the execution and the manner in which it was carried out.

Afzal Guru was hanged and buried Saturday morning in the Tihar Jail in the capital.
