M'lore: Prestige International School to get new campus

Mangalore, Feb 15: Prestige International School, Jeppinamogaru, is all set to lay the foundation for a new state-of-the-art campus spread over four and a half acres, adjacent to their present location on NH 66 at Jeppinamogaru.

The foundation stone laying ceremony of the new campus of Prestige International School will be held on Saturday February 16 at 8.30 am. Oscar Fernandes, Rajya Sabha MP, chairman of the Standing Committee on Human Resource Development, government of India and former union minister will lay the foundation stone for the new campus.

Union minister for minority affairs Rehman Khan will launch the logo of Prestige International School. Former union civil aviation minister C M Ibrahim will inaugurate the School’s annual sports meet. Deputy speaker of Karnataka Assembly N Yogish Bhat will preside over the function.

Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation Gulzar Banu, Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi, former district-in-charge ministers – namely Krishna J Palemar, B Ramanath Rai and B A Moideen, MLA of Ullal constituency U T Khader. MLA Abhayachandra Jain, former vice-chancellor of Kannur University Abdul Rahiman, senior leaders Mohammad Massod, Ibrahim Kodichal, proprietor of Raj Tiles N Raviraj Shetty, Corporator Nagendra will be chief guests of the function.

This campus boasts of having a large pre-primary block with well ventilated and furnished classrooms. The classrooms are delightfully painted. The pre-primary block has more than 35 rooms with access to outdoor learning and interactive white boards and are abundantly stacked with play materials.

There will also be a large primary and secondary school block with a spacious, well-equipped library, separate Maths lab, Science lab, and even an Arts lab apart from an indoor stadium and large indoor auditorium.

In addition, the school will have two swimming pools-one large pool and a kiddie’s pool, and an outdoor sports stadium with separate grounds for cricket, volleyball, football, etc.

The outdoor learning environment has been developed to support the teaching and learning of science, as well as provide quality play time experience. There will be music and drama studio, dedicated and up to date Information Communication Technology (ICT) suite, spacious class rooms equipped with interactive white boards and the latest information technology support.

The facilities for dance, yoga, gymnastics, games & athletics, swimming, karate will be provided in the new campus. The students are encouraged to participate in various medium of arts like pencil drawing, painting, chalks, collage, sculpture etc

The school aims to provide a happy, safe and pleasant environment where members of all the communities are treated with respect. It encourage good manners and responsible behavior, and poster a positive attitude to learning by commending positive behavior.

In the next academic year the School will move to its well equipped new campus. This new campus when completed will be one of the best equipped, best furnished schools in Mangalore region, aiming to be a top-ranking institution in India in the years to come.

The Prestige International School is owned and managed by H R Educational Foundation, which was established in the year 2006 by Hyder Ali and Reshma Hyder. It is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Presidency Homes and Infrastructures.

The school which follows the CBSE syllabus offers education of the highest standards and aims at the overall development of the personality of the students in a caring and secure environment. It started its journey with 13 students in a small house at Morgansgate for two years. In June 2008, the school was shifted to its present premises at Jeppinamogaru. At present there are 700 pupils on the roll. The school offers co-education from pre-primary to eighth standard.
