Sun, Feb 17 2013When I came for my mother's funeral three years back, they noticed a bangle in my small hand bag. The customers asked me to show the bangle. I showed it. It was a sample glass bangle given by my wife for measurement. Now the gold rate is very and hardly any body can buy it. So why to bring such choclates and give to customers ??? They are very happy to chew it and they eat it without any hesitation. Better take the family to Dubai and buy as much she can wear. Mangalore is not a safe place to bring gold. Come through Mumbai or Hyderabad.

Sun, Feb 17 2013Sure it looks like a smuggling racket associated with a syndicate and Bhatkal is always in the news for these kind of smuggling activities.A fast buck sometime and price of custom duty sometime,i.e no ill feeling!.

Sun, Feb 17 2013This is very simple common sense, I dont think one can spend 1.5 crores of hard earned money on smuggling gold, either he had some assurance from the customs dept who let him down or he is with some big smugler who would give him some share of the profit.
Anyway I think if he would have wrapped it with black garbage bag it might have gone un detected, I have heard so not sure, for I dont have to do that.

Sun, Feb 17 2013Jossy Saldana has a point here. 6.5kg of gold means nearly AED 1.1 million. Either he is regular into this business & minting money to buy such kind of gold or some big smuggler has used him to send this gold. It is a pure case of professional smugling.
