Karkala: Kota Poojary lays foundation for long-awaited Vanjar-Megadde bridge

Karkala, Feb 19: It was a special moment for the residents of Vanjar in Nadpal here, as after years and years of wait, their dream of getting a bridge saw hopes of realization.
Incidentally, no minister has ever visited this place before, but on Monday February 18, district incharge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary not only visited the village but also laid the foundation for the long-awaited bridge.
The bridge will connect residents of Vanjar and Megadde villages of Naxal-hit Nadpal.
"After discussions with the deputy commissioner, orders will be issued to use the Naxal rehabilitation package to repair the roads of this region. An amount of Rs 2 lac will be given to develop Megadde Mukyaprana Temple,” said Poojary.
"The bridge will be constructed at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore. Rs 50 lac has been sanctioned to the zilla panchayat engineering division. The work will be started immediately after the tender is issued. In the month of May, work will be completed and opened to traffic,” said Tingale Vikramadithya Hegde, chairman, Coastal Development Authority.
MLA Gopal Bhandary said the road to Kodlu Thirtha Falls should be developed by the tourism department, resolving the problems of the forest department.
Former MLA Sunil Kumar, ZP member Manjunath Poojary, Taluk panchayat member Chandrashekar Shetty, coastal development authority secretary M Raviraj Narayan, Naadpal gram panchayat president Laksmi Dayananda , and vice-president Jagadish Herala were present on this occasion.
