Doha, Feb 23: Tulu Koota Qatar hosted their fifth Kabaddi tournament at the Al Jazeera Academy School play ground, Doha on Friday February 22.
The 6 teams which participated in the event were MCC, HSC, Advanced Technical Services (ATS), host Tulu Koota Qatar, Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ), and South Kanara Muslim Welfare Association (SKMWA).
In the morning, Tulu Koota president Seetharam Shetty welcomed the gathering. Chief guest of the inagraual function was ICBF managing committee member Milan Arun addressed the gathering and greeted the participating teams. Sports secretary Sudhir Kumar (OHL) conducted the oath-taking ceremony with the team and Chaitali Shetty hosted the morning session and announced the fixtures of the tournament. Niyaz Ahmed, guest of the opening ceremony was present on the dais.
The top two teams were qualified for the final.
The most awaited final was played between South Kanara Muslim Welfare Association (SKMWA), and Advanced Technical Services (ATS), South Kanara Muslim Welfare Association (SKMWA won the title by just one point.(26-25) The final matches were played for 15 minutes each with two sessions whereas all other Legue matches were played for 10 minutes with two sessions each.
For the prize distribution ceremony in the evening, ICBF president Kareem Abdulla was the chief guest, Main Sponsor of Tournament philanthropist and General Manager of Pallonji Qatar Chidananda naik and Co-sponsor of the tournament philanthropist, community leader, Bunts Qatar president and managing director of ATS Ravishetty was the guest of honor.
Tulu Koota president Seethram Shetty welcomed the gathering. Chief guest K.M Varghese congratulated the winning teams as well as Tulu Koota for organizing such a great event to support the kabaddi players. Guest of honor Ravi Shetty congragulated all participants as well as Winners. He thanked and congragulated Tulu Koota for organizing the tournament
The team members of the winning team of SKMWA Mohammad Mansoor(captain) Abdul Lathif, Adam, Nayan Kumar, Mohammed Haneef, Shareef, Waheed, Abdul Khader, Rahamat, Shakeer. The team manager was Abdul Kasim.
The runners-up of ATS included Sunil Rai(captain) Sukesh Kumar, Sukesh Suvarna, Sujith Shetty, Shashtha Madasamy, Vishal Shamane, Nipin, Hari Prakash, KrishnaPuthige. Ramesh Gawda was the team manager.
The ‘best raider’ of the tournament was Sukesh Kumar of ATS, and the ‘player of the tournament’ award was bagged by Abdul Lathif of SKMWA, while the ‘best catcher’ of the tournament was awarded to Sukesh Suvarna .
Talented duo Abdul Salam and Sathiya Narayan kept the audience entertained with their running commentary while the score panel was controlled by Sandesh Anand, Vijay Kumar Rai and Nitesh D. The sound system was provided by Dhananjay.
The referee panel was led by J Antony and assisted by Stesan, Jafer and Rifaz The first aid medical team was led by Rehman Bantwal and, Kareem Abdulla chief guest , Chidanand Naik and Ravi Shetty guest of honour along with Ashmath Ali, Divakar Poojary, Ramachandra Shetty, and Prakash Chandra Ajila distributed prizes to the winners.
Chaitali Shetty compeered the prize distribution ceremony while Sports Secretary Sudhir Kumar Read out Winning Teams name and General Secretary Sudhir Kotian, concluded the event with the vote of thanks.
The Main sponsor of the event was Chidanand Naik of Pallonji Qatar, and co-sponsor was Ravi Shetty. Senior members of the Koota, founder members, EXCOM and officials of several organizations were also present on the occasion.
Hundreds of Kabaddi lovers gathered at the venue to watch their favorite teams in action.
