Bantwal: College bus overturns at Benjanapadavu

Bantwal, Feb 25: A bus belonging to Canara Engineering College overturned near the College campus at Benjanapadavu here, when the driver of the bus tried to avoid collision with an oncoming car.

The accident took place at around 5.15 pm on Monday February 25 when the bus was leaving from the College.

It is said that the accident occured when the bus driver applied sudden brakes to avoid collision with a car which was approaching at a high speed from the opposite direction. The bus skid and overturned.

The 50-54 students and lecturers who were in the bus had a lucky escape. A few of them sustained minor injuries, intial reports stated.

The driver of the bus was hurt on his leg. He was carried and taken in another bus.

Police arrived at the spot and took charge of the situation. With an hour, the students and lecturers were sent back in another bus.
