Tuticorin port to be expanded


New Delhi, Feb 28 (IANS): The V.O. Chidambaranar (VOC) Port in Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu will get one outer harbour at an outlay of Rs.7,500 crore (Rs.75 billion), union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said Thursday.

Presenting the union budget for 2013-14 in parliament, Chidambaram said an outer harbour would be built at VOC Port in Tuticorin at an outlay of Rs.7,500 crore.

He also said two new ports would be set up in West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.
