KVGCE Sullia Alumni holds maiden blood donation camp

Dubai, Mar 3: The SEA UAE Alumni association, an association of old students of KVG College of Engineering, Sullia, Dakshina kannada district residing in UAE organized their first blood donation camp successfully as part of their charity initiatives.

The blood donation camp was organized under the slogan “Give Blood. Save Life” on Friday March 1 from 11 am to 2.30 pm at Latifa Hospital (Al Wasl), here.

“Many old students of KVG College of Engineering participated in the drive; it was a great opportunity for the alumni members to donate their blood. In one way it is good to come to the centre for blood donation and to know about one's health condition and take care of it wisely and in a timely manner,” said Guruprasad Aithal, president of the association.

It was a memorable occasion, even friends of alumini members participated in the blood donation including several social activists like Balu Salian, Ganesh Rai, Shodhan prasad and several media persons who supported of the camp.

Blood donation is a part of every body’s life as it not only helps to save the patient who needs blood to survive but also helps the donor maintain good health. More the blood you donate, the healthier you remain. It also strengthens the bond of togetherness and fosters the spirit of humanity and brotherhood. It is part of community service and everyone’s responsibility to donate blood.

Old students of KVG College of Engineering residing in the UAE got together in Dubai in the year 2003, to form an alumni association here in the UAE. The alumni association was officially inaugurated on May 25, 2012 with a grand celebration held at Crown Plaza Hotel by renowned businessman Dr B R Shetty, M D and CEO of NMC group.  The function was felicitated by M P Singh from Indian consulate, Rizwan Sajan, chairman of Danube group, Sudheer Shetty – COO of UAE Exchange. The alumni association boasts now of 250 exceeding members.

The SEA UAE Alumni Association is a non-profit organization with the aim of serving the members of United Arab Emirates. Its goals include creation of wide alumni network, strengthening of relationship among alumni, promotion of cultural activities among the alumni, provision of college facilities and resources to boost alumni career development and utilization of alumni feedback in enhancing the quality of its programs and graduates. The association shall subscribe to and promote principle of fraternity, commitment, volunteering and excellence. It shall serve the alumni community in all its diversity.
The alumni association is organizing many programs which include cultural fest, charity initiatives including organizing blood donation camps, celebration and year end get together.
 
Guruprasad Aithal, president of SEA UAE Alumni, thanked the officials of Latifa Blood centre staff, each and every one who supported the blood donation drive. He also thanked Harish Kodi, executive member of alumni, the main man behind organizing this blood donation camp.
 
Ishwardas shetty, Retti Dani, Siju Moweri and Sunil Mottemane, executive committee members thanked all the donors.

Many Alumni members confirmed that they will turn out in large numbers and urged for conducting regular camps in future.

    Its really good to see the people coming forward to donate for the sake of society.

    I have heard it somewhere that Al Wasl hospital is paying AED 200/- for every person donating their blood, correct me if i am wrong.

    Congratulation to KVGCE Sullia Alumni, I thank all the donors , different organizations and their eminent personalities for taking time and attending this noble cause also Donating Blood for the Children Suffering from a Rare Disease Thalassaemia. One Donor's Blood ( One Unit 450ml )can save 3 to 4 children suffering from Thalassaemia .
    We Mogaveers UAE, hereby request all the Indian /Karnataka Associations and Community people to come forward for the noble cause. There are 450 Children/adults who are suffering from Rare Disease and they need 75 units of Blood per day, By Donating Blood it would decrease the Possibility of having heart diseases and strokes. It also activates the bone marrow to produce new Blood cells,People can safely give whole blood 4 times a year because our body takes up to 4 weeks to replace the red cells that have been removed, so please donate with love.
