Terror suspect Manzar Imam arrested at Ranchi

Ranchi, Mar 4 (PTI): Manzar Imam, a suspect in a couple of terror blasts in the country, was arrested at Kanke in Ranchi district, police said today.

A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Ranchi Police arrested him last night, Senior Superintendent of Police Saket Kumar Singh said here.

He, however, refused to specify on which terror incident Imam has been nabbed by the NIA.

Earlier, Superintendent of Police (City) Vipul Shukla said the NIA had arrested Imam in connection with the twin blasts in Hyderabad's Dilsukhnagar that had left 16 people dead.

Later the agency and the police produced him before the Judicial Magistrate Court today and got permission to take Imam in five-day transit-remand, another senior police officer said, adding Imam would be taken to Eranakulam in Kerala for interrogation in a bomb blast case.

Assisted by the Ranchi Police, the NIA team had nabbed Imam at Kanke last night while he was going to his house at Bariatu in the state capital, the officer said.

The NIA and the Anti-Terrorism Squad have been searching for Imam for the last two years in connection with bomb blasts in Ahmedabad and Kerala and came to Ranchi several times looking for him in the past.

Imam's relatives, who gathered at the court, demanded that the police should let them meet him once.

I do not have any mercy towards anybody who kills innocent people whichever religion he may belong to. Any individual involved in any kind of terrorists activities should be killed no mercy should be shown to them. There are cases of innocent got arrested and released after couple of years, for them life becomes miserable.
Assume one of your brother, son, relative or friend was picked up by police on terror suspect, undergoes narco-analysis, brain mapping tests and beating whilst investigation. After prolonged trial and stay in jail for couple of years he proved to be not guilty (innocent), subsequently he comes out of the jail. The government compensates him with 2-3 lacs rupees, and a character certificate. Even after his release his family gets ostracized by friends and relatives and he cannot find an alliance and job.
I read about 61 similar cases till now, there may be more.

Pls handle him with care. Since Congress led Government would not like to harm his community by branding him as Terrorist. Do Diggi, Shinde and Chidu sees any color of this terrorist cell? One such State Government tried their level best to arrest the Terrorist Master Mind and may be another State Government will move his bail application by seating his relatives or kids marriage or funeral function back at home State like Kerala CM did in Madani’s case
