Former Bengal minister dead


Kolkata, Mar 5 (IANS): Former West Bengal minister and Forward Bloc leader Kalimuddin Shams died at a city nursing home here Monday, party sources said. He was 78.

Shams was suffering from old age and renal problems.

A five-time legislator, he was deputy speaker of the state assembly from 1977 to 1987.

Shams also served multiple stints as minister in the Left Front government, handling portfolios of agri-marketing, food and civil supplies.
