Medical graduate slashes tea vendor's neck

New Delhi, Mar 5 (IANS): A 30-year-old medical graduate slashed a tea vendor's neck after a fight over a petty issue, police said Tuesday.

Ritul Yadav, who recently completed his MBBS course from a medical college in Russia, attacked Umashankar, 35, with a surgical blade Monday morning and fled. He was arrested in the evening and was sent to judicial custody Tuesday.

Umashankar was rushed to a hospital. He is now out of danger, a police officer said.

The incident took place in south Delhi's Hauz Khas.

Yadav, from Etah in Uttar Pradesh, lives in south Delhi's Gautam Nagar area in a rented accommodation and was preparing for the Medical Council of India (MCI) exam.

"Yadav fought with Umashankar Monday morning at the victim's tea shop. Yadav went to his room and went back to the vendor's shop after two hours and attacked him with the surgical blade," police said.
