Mangalore: Youth drowns at Suratkal beach

Mangalore, Mar 9: A youth drowned at Suratkal Mallamar beach on Friday March 8.

The deceased has been identified as Afeez (18), resident of Krishnapur.

Afeez along with his eight friends went to Mallamar beach near Suratkal NITK lighthouse at around 1.15 pm when a huge wave suddenly dragged in Tarun when they were playing in the water. His friends' efforts to save him went in vain.

Immediately after the incident, four members fled from the place while two others in the group were caught by the public and handed over to Suratkal police.

A case has been registered in Suratkal police station.

    When they do not know how to swim, should not go to deep waters. That is common sense. We cannot trust friends in deep water. Better tie a big rope to waist if go to deep waters. So many cases coming up like this and all are reading daily. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.
