Yangon, Mar 9 (IANS): Myanmar and the US have vowed to cooperate in a wide range of sectors, official media reported Saturday.
This came up during a meeting between Myanmar Vice President U Nyan Tun and Administrator of US Agency for International Development (USAID) Rajeev Shah in Nay Pyi Taw Friday, reported Xinhua.
The Myanmar-US cooperation programs cover control of HIV/AIDS, healthcare services for children and women and reduction of mortality rate, development of research work and higher education in linking universities of the two countries.
The programs also deal with humanitarian aid to Myanmar, investment of US companies and development of agricultural sector in the country.
In a separate meeting between Shah and Speaker of Myanmar's House of Representatives U Shwe Mann, they discussed amity and cooperation between the two parliaments, poverty reduction in Myanmar and cooperation in agriculture, livestock breeding, education and health sectors.
