22 Hindu couples wed in Pakistan

Karachi, Mar 10 (IANS): As many as 22 Hindu couples tied the knot in a mass wedding ceremony arranged by the Pakistan Hindu Council here, a media report said Sunday.

Priest Ramesh Kumar administered the oath to the couples, most of whom were under 20, the Daily Times said. The grooms wore white and the brides were attired in traditional dresses.

According to the Council, there are around seven million Hindus in the country -- about 5.5 percent of Pakistan's population of 170 million. Most live in Sindh.
