Kundapur, Mar 13: Auto drivers along with locals on Tuesday March 12 protested near Koteshwar after a differently-abled auto driver was attacked for no apparent reason.
As per the information obtained, 'Anna Santharpane' offering was held on behalf of Ranganath Bhat of Koteshwar at Pattabhiramachandra temple, to which the Anand Pai, a physically challenged driver was also invited.
Anand has been earning his living by running his auto in Koteshwar Car Street. On being invited, he came along with his mother and wife to the temple and he had parked his auto opposite to Layan Mantap.
Meanwhile, a nearby shop owner, along with his two sons appoached Anand Pai, and allegedly used abusive words and even attacked him in front of his wife and mother.
Angered by this, locals along with hundreds of auto drivers of three stands in Koteshwar condemned the incident and protested in front of the temple. They demanded that the shop owner and his sons come to the spot and tender a public apology to the driver.
Kundapur police arrived at the spot and brought the situation under control.
