Azarenka eases into Indian Wells quarters

Indian Wells (California), Mar 13 (IANS): Top seed and former world No.1 Victoria Azarenka of Belarus eased past Poland's Urszula Radwanska in straight sets to reach the last eight of WTA BNP Paribas Open here.

The 23-year-old defending champion, who remains unbeaten with a 14-0 run in 2013, needed 85 minutes to seal the 6-3, 6-1 victory Tuesday, breaking the 37th-ranked Pole five times and saving three out of the four break points, Xinhua reports.

Azarenka will face the winner between eighth seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark and Russia's Nadia Petrova in the quarterfinals, while sore ankle might be the main concern for the Belarusian.

"My ankle was bothering me. It has been bothering me for a while, so it hasn't been really getting better. But on the bright side, I won the match," said Azarenka.
