Question hour disrupted in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi, Mar 15 (IANS): The Rajya Sabha witnessed unruly scenes Friday as BJP and Congress members were locked in a verbal spat, forcing the house to be adjourned for nearly 15 minutes.

The ruckus started when Minister of State for Agriculture Charan Das Mahant said it would be inappropriate to discuss BT cotton in the house as a petition was pending in the Supreme Court.

This was objected to by opposition members who said the case had nothing to do with their question. Bharatiya Janata Party's Parshottam Khodabhai Rupala accused the minister of trying to deceive the house.

He was countered by Congress member Jesudas Seelam who ordered Rupala to sit down. This ignited a verbal war between BJP and Congress members.
