Swiss woman gangraped in Madhya Pradesh; eight detained

Datia (MP), Mar 16 (PTI): A Swiss woman was gangraped by a group of eight unidentified persons in Datia district of Madhya Pradesh, police said today.

The incident took place near the town late last night when the woman along with her husband was touring the region on a bicycle as part of their India tour, Datia SP, C S Solanki told PTI.

The couple was camping at a place on their way back from Orchha, where temples of Lord Ram are situated, and were proceeding to Agra when they were looted and the victim was allegedly gangraped in the presence of her husband, police said.

The woman has been admitted to Kamalaraje hospital in Gwalior and her medical tests have confirmed rape, police sources said.

Eight persons have been rounded up on the basis of suspicion and are being questioned in connection with the case, the SP said.

"We are scouring the forest area in search of those involved in the crime," he said without giving more details.

India will never be India of yester years. the number of unemployed youths are high. Morality is reaching its lowest due to many reasons.
It is high time to go in large group to unknown places, even the Indians in India are not safe if you go in a group of less than 5 people

One cannot understand the psychological trauma the Swiss woman is undergoing. The woman was gangraped by a group of eight unidentified persons.
Raping a woman is a monstrous crime and must be punished. I just think of the young Indian woman who was raped in Delhi and passed away in Singapore. The nationality of a woman is not important, important is to make India a safe place for women.
The married couple from Switzerland spent their holiday in India and now they face a nightmare with tremendous difficulties for both.
The raped Swiss woman suffers from a trauma and undergoing a trauma therapy takes a long time, often years and it is not clear if she will have the strength and will to undergo this psychological treatment.
A trauma therapy demands a lot from the patient and not everyone can cope with terrible situations during the therapy, especially when the therapist and the patient come to the point and the patient undergoes the gruesome situation again.
That can cause dangerous side effects.
A lot must be done to make India a better place for women. I deeply regret and I am always sorry to learn when children or women are abused or raped.
The justice system should act immediately and sentence perpetrators to maximum imprisonment. India is the biggest democracy on earth and therefore the Government of India must act immediately to protect women all over India.
Women have the right to feel safe when they ride a bus or train. It is unbearable for every democratic state not to be able to protect children and women.
Mahatma Gandhi, The Father of The Nation, had a dream and visions and by his peaceful actions, he was able to free India.
He dreamt of a peaceful and stable India, with opportunities for all. He wanted harmony, joy, peace, dignity, respect and tolerance and mutual understanding.
We should take Mahatma Gandhi as a shining example to make the world a better place and safer for children and women.

    Best regards

Indian are taking these rapes very easy it is worst than taliban terrorism where mother, sisters, daughter, aunts, grannys all thier life will be unsafe due to culprit politics who protects the rapist due to thier hand in gloves with politicians. Shoot these politiicans who support the rapist same like in Karnataka first shoot the politicians who support communalism helping attack churches, attacks on business, women, religon houses, temples, etc. don't spare them. all public trash them first the polictician who main reason behind these.

Every State Police has its intelligence cell. This is the backbone of department. But few Officials and Politicians break this back bone and make it ineffective.
If you give the responsibility and accountability along with liberty, the dept can do wonder.
Kiran Bedi is an example. But we donot allow such officers to work. Because for us, our maama, chacha, community, religion comes first. In the name of these we will vote goons also, then deliver lecture to others. Thats what we are.

Teach the govt. a good lesson. Whole world is watching. They will call Indian PM a rapist, you and me also rapist. To save our image and tourism just kill all rapists with one blow.

Despite so much of agitations and noise over Delhi gang rape and government promising stern action, the scourge is not leaving our country. My belief is that when a person indulges in such an act, he doesn’t think of the consequence of his act. There is no more explanation than this. Everyone knows that the punishment for such a heinous act will be life imprisonment or capital punishment. Yet nothing is deterring them. Police can help to bring down the number of incidents but cannot completely remove them. What India needs today is overhaul of the system, indoctrinate thru programs or whatever means to teach people to live a clean life, what is good and what is bad. Moral education is need of the hour today and medicine for all the problems our country is faced with.

Laws are there to punish convicts but its the duty of police to stop them from happening. Rise in such cases recently puts the suspicion on legitimaty of complaint , as most of times it turns out to be 'consent ' gone wrong. Police should be able to segregate the real cases ( as delhi incident ) and give justice to deserving one. If more false cases pile up , it will put pressure on judiciary and law enforcing agencies , and will delay justice for real victims. ......//..... I cannot comment on above incident , but suprised how media headlines issues relating only to women to garner TRP's. Attreocities against men go unnoticed....

What has JANLOKPAL to do with this? Do you know the reason for delay in enacting the Anti-rape law? Its the opposition creating problems about the age etc. And you know where the rape has happened? It is in the state rule by your favourite party as in Karnataka. Earlier when rape happened in Delhi, you (and many others like you) were blaming the state government. Now why don't blame the state government? Hypocrisy at its height. Grow up if you can and if you have the desire and courage and see the things objectively.

Swiss woman gangraped is ok. She is foreigner. We Indians only worried that no one must gangrape our women. If Indian women is raped we will make agitations all over the world. If rape happens in Delhi BJP supporters will blame congress now MP rape, people will blame Centre for MP rape.
