M’lore: Free health camp at Shree Bhoothanatheshawara Temple on Mar 24

Mangalore, Mar 19: Shre Bhoothanatheshwara Temple, Badaga Yedapadavu, Mijar, here, will host a free health check camp on Sunday March 24, in association with AJ Institute of Medical Sciences (AJIMS) from 9 am to 1 pm.

A wide range of services will be provided in general medicine, women’s health, children’s health and skin care at the camp site along with follow up treatment at AJIMS medical college hospital.

Team of doctors and personnel of department of general medicine, department of obstetrics and gynecology, department of pediatrics and department of dermatology of ajmis will be attending to the camp inmates. For the comfort of the attendees the medical team includes both male and lady doctors.

“This is a rare opportunity for the people belonging to underprivileged sections of society, especially children and women, to avail highly specialized care under highly qualified doctors. We urge the people of the locality to take maximum benefit of this camp,” said Vijaynath Shetty, chief co-ordinator of Shree Bhoothanatheshwara Temple.

On the same occasion, Group Insurance Scheme will be introduced for the benefit of the rural people in association with Life Insurance Corporation of India, he said.


General Health Check

As the old saying goes, ‘Health is Wealth’. Enjoying good health enhances our productivity and enables us to experience joy in life. High cost of treatment could also destroy a family’s financial stability. For people belonging to underprivileged sections of society, ill health is yet another burden on their already burdened lives. This camp will address the general health needs of the people and provide free consultation, treatment and medicines, including free ECG, free blood tests and free ultra sound scan.


Mother and Child Health Check

Women’s health represents the overall health of the society. Childhood being the initial phase of life is crucial in determining lifelong health. Hence ‘Mother & Child’ concept of healthcare has come in for focus of attention in modern times. The health camp will attend to all women (besides mothers) as well as children.

Women’s camp will be run by a dedicated team of women doctors with particular focus on pregnancy related and gynecological problems. Strict attention will be given to ensure protection of privacy and dignity of women who need assessment.

Children’s section will be attended by AJIMS pediatric team who are well versed in all aspects of pediatric care.


Skin check-up


Healthy, glowing skin is the best ornament for our body as it gives us self esteem and creates a good impression about us among others. Skin health also is an indicator of the general health of the person. Yet skin health is often neglected by people and they see a doctor only when the problems become severe. This skin camp will screen the people for all types of skin ailments along with giving free medication and medicines. If the patient’s condition is severe, further advice and references will be given for continuing the treatment.


Services provided


Free check-up of general health, maternity, gynecology and pediatric problems, free consultation and medication; and free ultra sound scanning will be done at the camp site.
Patients requiring advanced treatment including surgery will be transferred at AJIMS free of cost. Any ICU / ward admission, laboratory tests and surgeries required will also be provided be free-of-cost. Dedicated MSWs will provide personalized service to the patients during this hospital treatment.
Patients covered by Arogya Bhagya, Yashaswini, Sanpoorna Suraksha and other government schemes may also avail treatment at the hospital. For children, cough clinics will be held on first and third Saturday of every month. Free consultation and medicine at minimum charges will be available.


Group Insurance Scheme

In order to provide economic security to the underprivileged people of this rural region, Janashree Group Insurance Scheme will be introduced in association with Life Insurance Corporation of India. Those availing the insurance should pay Rs 100 premium for Rs 30,000 insurance cover for one year. This includes cover of Rs 30,000 in case of normal death and Rs 75,000 for accidental death, along with a string of other benefits. The scheme is open to Below the Poverty Line (BPL) individuals aged from 18 to 58 years. Age proof like school certificate, ration card or voter ID should be produced.


‘Bale Thelipaale’ – A comedy competition


‘Bale Thelipaale’, a comedy competition will be held at Shree Bhoothanatheshwara Temple from April 20 to June 2. The preliminary contest will be staged every Saturday (7 pm to 9 pm) and Sunday (4 pm to 9 pm) during this period. The participants will be given five minutes of stage time to show their comedy talents and their performance will be judged by renowned personalities. Maximum two members are allowed per team. Capsule of the show will be telecast on NammaTV on all days of the week. Prizes will be given in two categories: (1) Till 14 years (male/female): first - Rs 50,000, second – Rs 25,000 and third – Rs 15,000; (2) Above 14 years (male/female): first – Rs 1,00,000, second – Rs 50,000 and third – Rs. 25,000. Further details will be announced later.


Shree Bhoothanatheshwara Temple

Shree Bhoothanatheshwara Temple is an ancient shrine situated in the village of Badaga Yedapadavu, Mijar, Mangalore. After the renovation and reinstallation of the deity in May 2010, the temple has been actively promoting social, cultural and developmental initiatives under the leadership of Vijaynath Shetty, chief co-ordinator of the temple. The temple is well known for hosting sporting events like village games competition, village cricket tournament and village kabaddi tournament. The temple has also been regularly conducting free health check camps, free children’s summer camp, women’s camp etc.
