Sachin different from others: Srinivasan

New Delhi, Mar 25 (IANS): Indian cricket board president N. Srinivasan Monday said batting great Sachin Tendulkar is "different from every other cricketer" and there was no need to analyse every single performance of his.

Rumours in the media were again rife of Sachin planning to announce his retirement from Test cricket with the next series a fair bit away.

"Sachin is different from every other cricketer. This is a personal opinion. I distinguish between selectors and my view. In that context, I say that Tendulkar is different from everybody," Srinivasan told NDTV.

"I don't think anyone of us can talk on Sachin. Not proper for us to analyse his every performance."

When asked about author and columnist Ramachandra Guha's comments that Sachin should retire like Vijay Merchant (score a hundred and retire), Srinivasan said: "It's not fair to be quizzed on Sachin's selection and it's also not fair to him. I have already said Sachin is different. I am not a selector."

Sachin will be 40 by the time he plays his next Test match (away tour to South Africa in November) and 41 when he plays next at home.
