Karkala: Principal’s indifference - polytechnic students boycott classes

Daijiworld Media Network – Karkala (SP)

Karkala, Mar 27: The students of the government women’s polytechnic here boycotted their classes on Tuesday March 26, and protested in front of the institution, accusing the principal of showing indifference in handling their revaluation requests.

25 students, who were unhappy at the marks they had secured at the examination conducted during February end, had expressed their desire to apply for revaluation. They had approached the concerned clerk in the college office with an offer to remit the required fee for revaluation, it is said. The principal, the girls allege, refused to entertain these requests, and asked them to send their requests directly to Bangalore.

The students accordingly applied for revaluation and remitted the fees directly to the deputy director in the department of examinations, Board of Technical Education, Bangalore. When the revaluation results were announced, they were in for a shock. While the applications of students of other polytechnics were entertained, revaluation results of the women’s polytechnic here were not announced. When contacted, the deputy director in the department said that these applications should have been routed through the principal, the students said.

When contacted, principal of the polytechnic, Vasudeva, claimed that he had never received any revaluation application from the students and that the students were themselves responsible for sending revaluation applications directly to the department.

Frankly speaking, revaluation is also of no use. I know a student, who failed in one paper and asked for revaluation. After revaluation by reputed three evaluators, marks were same. He asked for photocopy of paper. When he checked the photocopy of his paper, the totaling was wrong and those 3 reputed evaluators could not find this mistake.
