Mangalore: Muneer Ahmed - police informer-turned-complainant, a thief now!
Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)
Mangalore, Mar 27: The arrest of two thieves by Kadri police on Tuesday March 26, wherein electronic equipment and laptops worth Rs 4.8 lac were seized, has brought to light an interesting fact.
Incidentally, one of the thieves, Muneer Ahmed, was a self-proclaimed police informer earlier, before revolting and going to the press with allegations against a police officer, which were ultimately termed false.
On November 30, 2011, Muneer Ahmed had claimed in a press conference that he had been working as a police informer to Bunder police inspector, Vinay Gaonkar, for 14 months, and that he had been collecting hafta on the inspector’s behalf from various quarters. He had put the total collection handed over to the policeman at Rs 38 lac, before getting fed up and stopping hafta collection and becoming an informer to assistant commissioner of police, Ravindra Gadadi.
Muneer had said he was threatened of encounter by Gaonkar after becoming loyal to Gadadi. Muneer also had claimed that he had complained to the then inspector general of police (IGP), Alok Mohan, against Gaonkar.
The IGP had entrusted the investigation into the complaint to the then deputy superintendent of police, Harishchandra. As Muneer failed to appear in person for deposing in this connection, the investigation was closed for non-cooperation and absence, duly treating it as a false complaint.
The relationship between Muneer Ahmed and the police department appears to be acquiring new dimensions with passage of time, from a police informer, to a victim, to a fake complainant, and now a thief. Going by the fast-paced changes witnessed in his link with the police department during the last 16 months, it need not come as a surprise if new spectrums of his personality come into the open in future, one feels.

Thu, Mar 28 2013From the begenning of the story something was fishy !
I have heard a lot of incidents where a puppet is used by the Police to collect Hafta. The same cop in front doesnt take money, but uses a puppet to extract huge hafta from businessmen. Its the common practice by the cops. Only nowadays public are being aware of it through news and movies. In Bombay , before the encounter is done all the target's assets and cash is confiscated and then they are shot ! The Only difference between underworld and the police is the police uniform !!!

Wed, Mar 27 2013Strong Lokayuktha like Justice Venkatachalayya , T.N.Shesan may dare to bring out the secrets of high profile government employees of all departments.
Unfortunately we have NONE.
Best thing to do is dont move against wind....just move with it.
We dont have any other options.
Muneer Ahmed is paying for the stupidity he has done . May GOD bless his family.

Wed, Mar 27 2013Thanks God, Muneer Ahmad is still alive to narrate the story! Well, unless police have indirectly trained him, Muneer could not have succeeded in robbing so many items! Police traning helps either way!
