Tahsildar complains against Cong leaders of poll code violation

Sullia, Mar 27: The tahsildar of the taluk, who also happens to be the electoral officer for the taluk, has filed a complaint of poll code violation in the police station here. The complaint mentions names of some Congress as the violators.

Several Tamil-speaking workers, who have been working in the plantations owned by Karnataka Forest Development Corporation in the taluk since decades, have been holding protest opposite taluk office since several days, relating to their demands. On Monday March 25, the workers had organized a mega rally and laid siege to the taluk office, alleging official apathy.

Sullia block Congress resident, M Venkappa Gowda, Puttur block Congress president, Kavu Hemanath Shetty, Congress women’s wing president, Divyaprabha Chiltadka, KPCC member, Dr B Raghu, member of Central Coir Board, T M Shahid, Dhananjaya Adpangaya, Nityananda Mundody and others have been named in the complaint. The tahsildar has said that the leaders are guilty of violating the code of conduct by delivering political speeches on the dais and doling out assurances to the protesters.

Copy of the complaint has also been sent to the deputy commissioner of the district, it is gathered.
