Mangalore, Mar 28: JD(S) district minority unit president D M Aslam, whose reported suspension from the party stirred a hornet's nest leading to rebellion and mass resignation of party leaders and workers, on Thursday March 28 said that he is yet to receive an official order from the state party leaders about his suspension.
Addressing a press meet here, Aslam said, "Recently, I learnt from newspapers and TV channels that I got suspended from the party, but I have not received any official information from JD(S) state president Kumaraswamy or JD(S) party about my suspension."
He further added, "I have worked from many years for this party without any expectation; there was no one at that time, now they are conspiring to dismiss me from the party. With efforts put in by Sadananda Shetty, Nagaraj Shetty, M G Hegde, Dr Udayakumar and Chitharanjan Shetty we worked a lot during the elections to bring this party. With our consolidated efforts, the new office was constructed, computer facilities were installed and 48 candidates' names was announced for MCC elections. In the earlier office in Bendorewell there was no electricity and the rent was also not paid. M B Sadashiv and Sushil Noronha were not able to fulfil the basic necessities, they have done nothing for this party.
"Sushil Noronha has no followers, he is not even able to bring a single person to the party. He has not even spent a single rupee from his pocket for the party. He could not add a single vote to the party. He was my polling agent during 2004 Assembly elections. The Christian votes for JD(S) increased not because of Sushil Noronha but because of Pramod Pinto and Elias. Sushil Noronha is unnecessarily creating confusion in the party by claiming that Sadanada Shetty is supporting RSS. He has contributed nothing to the party," he said.
"M B Sadashiva is not fit to be the district JD(S) president. He was not alert during the ULB election but our team worked and put more efforts to strengthen the party in the coastal region. M B Sadashiv couldn’t strengthen JD(S) in Puttur nor Sullia. Unnecessarily these people claim that Sadananda Shetty is RSS member and complain with Kumaraswamy and Deve Gowda. M B Sadashiv goes by flight to Bangalore and gets ticket expenses but Nagaraj Shetty has spent money from his pocket for some candidates in the recent elections.
"Sadananda Shetty was ready to contest in the elections but these people created rumours and now he is not ready to contest. They do not see the party's benefit but only fulfil their greed," he said.
Abubakar, state minority unit secretary, Rafik district JD(S) minority wing secretary, Abdul Hakim, JD(S) Mangalore constituency general secretary, Nasir and Imran were present.
