Japan's industrial output falls

Tokyo, Mar 29 (IANS): Japan's industrial production dropped 0.1 percent in February from the previous month, marking the first drop in three months, according to a preliminary report released by the Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry Friday.

But the ministry maintained its basic assessment of production saying that it "has bottomed out and shows some signs of picking up".

The seasonally adjusted index of output at factories and mines stood at 89.0 against the base of 100 for 2005, reported Xinhua.
