Udupi: Street brawl, man stabbed – one arrested

Udupi, Mar 30: In an incident which occurred near Coastal Ice Plant in Pitrody in Udyavar near here on Thursday March 28 night, a person, who urging two groups of youth involved in a quarrel to calm down, was stabbed and grievously injured. One of the accused was handed over to the police thereafter.

The injured has been identified as Sudhakar (40), a local. He is being treated at Manipal Hospital. His condition is stated to be critical.

It is said that fight had erupted between some youth over the issue of using a Bullet motor bike belonging to one among them.  Nishant, Guru and some other youth have been named as the accused in the case of attempt to murder registered in Kaup police station in this regard. Nishant, one of the accused, was taken into custody, while the policemen are looking for the other accused persons.

Nishant from Udyavar Kalaibail and Bhaksar, along with some others, were quarreling with each other relating to the use of a motor bike belonging to another person named Vasant, a local. Sudhakar intervened in the issue, and requested them to stop fighting and sort out the matter peacefully, when Sudhakar, an associate of Nishant, stabbed him in the stomach with a knife.

Sudhakar was admitted into hospital by two persons named Umesh and Sundar. Under the guidance of Karkala deputy superintendent of police, Jayant Shetty, station house officer of Kaup, Archana, has begun investigation.
