Maruti Suzuki's March sales down 4.8 percent


New Delhi, Apr 2 (IANS): Maruti Suzuki logged 4.8 percent lower sales in March as compared to the corresponding month of 2012.

A company statement Tuesday said it sold 119,937 units last month from 125,952 units sold in March last year.

The domestic sales of the passenger car major fell by 4.3 percent at 107,890 units from 112,724 units in the corresponding month of 2012.

Exports fell by 8.9 percent at 12,047 units from 13,228 units shipped out in March, 2012.

According to the company, its sales for the last fiscal grew by 3.3 percent as it sold a total of 1,171,434 units from 1,133,695 units sold in 2011-12.

"During the year (2012-13), the company sold 1,051,046 units in the domestic market, a growth of 4.4 percent over the previous year," the company said in a statement. The company had sold 1,006,316 units in 2011-12.

Exports for the fiscal under consideration declined by 5.5 percent at 120,388 units from 127,379 units shipped out during 2011-12.

The company's scrip at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) grew by 2.06 percent or 26.40 points around 2 p.m. at Rs.1,309.55 from its previous close of Rs.1,283.15.
