Mangalore: Now MLA Khader faces rebellion

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Apr 5: An entity called ‘People’s Action Committee of Genuine Congressmen’ has raised the banner of revolt against MLA, Khader, who is certain to be fielded by the Congress again. The committee, comprising disappointed party men, has complained that the constituency has been turned into an inherited family property of Khader.

Farooq U H, addressing a press conference held in the city on Wednesday April 3, said that irregularities committed in the construction of houses under ‘Ashraya’ scheme near Ullal Someshwar would be brought to light, duly alleging that there has been a tacit understanding between the MLA and the contractors in its execution. He also alleged that irregularities had occurred in the underground drainage contract in Ullal. He also charged the MLA of remaining silent over holding back of Rs 50 lac grant to Ullal Dargah by the government for three years, before raising the topic at the last session of the assembly just as lip service.

Farooq  accused Khader of ignoring senior workers of the party, and forming a group of his own minions. He said that the party had failed to collect the opinion of party workers from the constituency before deciding on Khader’s candidature. Farooq revealed that the committee’s meeting scheduled to be held at Thokkottu on April 5 will unanimously decide upon the candidature of a person, who will be fielded as an independent candidate.  To a question, he denied having been involved with anti-party activities, duly clarifying that he is not opposing the party, but an individual.

President of the committee, Dennis D’Souza, Bava Muhammed, Vincent Nazarath, U T Mansoor, and others were present at the press conference.
