Udupi: Serial accident at Kaup - Lorry driver critical

Udupi, Apr 7: A person was severely injured in a serial accident that involved a Scopio, lorry and a tanker. The mishap occurred on NH 66 near Koppalangadi in Kaup police station limits on Saturday April 6 at around 10.30 pm.

The lorry driver who was stuck inside the vehicle for more than half-an-hour is said to be critically injured. He was pulled out by the public after 45 minutes of struggle. He has been admitted to a hospital in Udupi.

The people in the Scorpio sustained minor injuries and have been admitted to a hospital here.

Even 45 minutes after the accident occurred, the 108 ambulance at a distance of 1 km from the spot did not arrive. The enraged public then took the critically injured driver in Kaup police jeep.

Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon visited the spot late night after the accident and spoke to the injured people in the Scorpio, who were admitted in the hospital.
