Bidar: Three junior swamijis set themselves on fire, town grief-stricken
Daijiworld Media Network - Bidar (SP)
Bidar, Apr 8: Three junior swamijis of Chowli Math on the outskirts of the town set themselves on fire at around 5 am on Monday April 8, taking the citizens of the town by surprise and shock. A pall of gloom has descended on the town, and the people are making a beeline to the Math premises. Devotees could be seen weeping consolably and wailing the sudden loss of their spiritual guides.

These three were the disciples of Ganeshwara Maharjasri Swamiji of the Math. Sri Ganeshwara Swamiji had voluntarily forsaken his life on February 28 this year. The other head of the Math, Maruti Swamiji, had gone missing, and the police had launched an operation to find him out.
The three swamijis, Jagannatha Sri (22), Pranava Sri (16), and Veera Reddy Sri (45) had together planned in advance to offer their lives. They prepared a huge pyre some distance away from their Math premises and consigned themselves to flames. No witnesses were there, and the heart-rending episode came to light later.
In separate death notes left behind, which were retrieved by the police, they reportedly said that they had no enemies and there was no outside pressure on them. They clarified that they had decided to lay down their lives, as they were shattered by the death of their Guru, Ganeshwara Swamiji, and that they had been overtaken by a sense of uselessness, as were deprived of the opportunity to serve their Guru.
Bidar superintendent of police, Tyagarajan, said that the police had registered the missing case of Maruti Swamiji and had formed teams to search for him. Sri Shantaveera Swamiji of Kolada Math opined that the incident was the result of the swamijis who were overtaken by temporary emotions, and that the police failure was clearly evident in the episode. He has asked the state government to investigate the matter thoroughly and take necessary action.
There have also been demands for investigation by Central Bureau of Inevstigation into the incident.

Mon, Apr 08 2013Very sad news to read. Those people who are dedicated to this
"swamies life" must at first read about the great swamijis of the olden days, like Swami Vivekandana and get some basic and fundamental guidelines of spiritual life-exposure to other religions and self-denial.
Many events happending in recent times causing greater alarm.

Mon, Apr 08 2013Lingayat relegion is found by revolutionary leader Basaveshwara. It has addressed current issues of society with modren thinking. This news is very sad and surely indication of mishandling by latest swamijis and blind followers. May be Sr. Shrees worked hard for uplift alas as usual politics, gonddagiri, money power ingrediants destroyed it.
Hope new swamji will learn from this tragic end of lives.

Mon, Apr 08 2013the secrets no one will know. it is all internal matters. what happened to the senior swamiji might have been suspicious death and others might have been involved. to keep it unknown to the public these three were politically forced or goondas might have also threatened them and so they gave up the lives instead of bringing the real truth to the outside world. this is what has happened

Mon, Apr 08 201316 years of age and self-emulation! This is a white-wash of blind faith. I am sure God will never intend such a thing of His creation in return to the LIFE he gave.
I don't if it is wise, foolish or stupidity? Whatever, certainly a cowardice act.

Mon, Apr 08 2013This is nothing but the act of foolishness. They have taken coward decisions to burn themselves for God / Guru... ect.
They should for the welfare of India Instead of sacrifising their life for Guru.

Mon, Apr 08 2013Very sad news. Men of God doing this discourages the devotees. One question: Where they believers and followers of the swamiji or God? As Sachidanand Shetty has rightly pointed out, no matter how holy a person is, he should not be followed, but religion should be after seeking and experiencing God.

Mon, Apr 08 2013That's the problem nowadays...the meaning of 'Swamiji's'....The one's who are supposed to have renounced everything...and advise others to lead life like the 'cashew nut' enjoined with the 'fruit'...'There' yet 'Not There'(Iddu Illadanthe).....However this is a bit difficult to 'understand' leave alone digest......

Mon, Apr 08 2013Utter nonsense. Unless we stop “Vyakthi Pooja”, this kind of menace will continue in our society. Though we have to pay homage to their death but there is no need to shed tears for their action
