Kundapur, Apr 10: "Preparations are going on in full swing for a peaceful election process in Kundapur and Byndoor limits," said sub-divisional officer Yogeshwar.
He addressed the media at a press meet organized in his office on Tuesday April 9.
Briefing about the elections, he said, "Nominations are to be filed between April 10 to April 17 excluding April 11 and April 14. On April 18, nomination papers will be examined and the last day to withdraw any application will be April 20. All the election procedures must be followed strictly," he added.
"Only four people can accompany the candidate while submitting the nomination. No one else will be permitted to enter RO chamber."
Adding to this he said, vehicles must be parked 100 metres away from the RO chamber. Only one banner and one flag must be seen in the respective party office, the party members are not allowed more flags or banners in other areas.
"For any public meeting, permission should be taken in advance from authorities concerned and banners at the meeting place can be put up only an hour before scheduled. Once the meeting is over, it should be removed within an hour. If rules are not obeyed to accordingly, then a fine will be imposed including banner removal charges. All the vehicles participating in the rally should also take permission.
"No candidate is allowed to spend more than Rs 16 lac for campaigning. All the expenditure details must be shown to the officials and if the cost is exceeeding the said amount then a complaint will be filed to the election commission," he said.
"In three areas, observers will be posted. Whenever a complaint is received regarding the violation of the code of conduct from the general public, or other political parties, the observer will visit the spot and will report the incident. Video footage of all the political programmes will be carried out through which the scrutiny of the code of conduct will be done."
He continued adding "Candidates should give the detailed report of all their expenses and hence three different colored books are assigned to them. A media monitoring committee is set up at the district level to keep a eye on paid news and other aspects".
"Areas with more than 1200 voters will be split up and more than 3000 officials will be working on the election day. Special security will be provided in the naxal affected areas adding to that officer asked voters to participate in large numbers for the election.
Dr Prabhulingayya, RO, Tashildar Gayatri Nayak, Yashoda Sunil, DYSP, Tippeswamy among others were present.
1,81,817 voters in Kundapur taluk
The Kundapur taluk comprises of 83,839 male voters, 93,871 female voters, altogether 1,81,817. For smooth flow of election process altogether 211 voting booths are set up.
In Byndoor area, there are 89,162 male voters, 1,01,775 female voters, altogether 1,95,316 voters and there are 240 voting booths.
Six check posts will be set up in Kundapur and Byndoor area which will work round the clock, in Shirooru, Trasi, Mandi, Halkal, Kandlur and Hosangadi.
