Kohli, Gambhir warned for ugly spat

Bangalore, Apr 12 (PTI): Skippers Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir, who were involved in an ugly spat during Royal Challengers' match against the Knight Riders, were warned and reprimanded for breaching the IPL code of conduct.

Kohli and Gambhir were involved in an on-field altercation after the latter was dismissed in the 10th over of the innings.

As Gambhir and other players walked towards cover region to celebrate the dismissal, Kohli instead of trudging back to the pavilion walked towards short extra cover and apparently made a remark.

Suddenly, Gambhir was seen walking angrily towards his junior India teammate. However it was another Delhi lad Rajat Bhatia, who got in between them and tried to calm Gambhir down.

Both skippers admitted to the Level One offence (Article 2.1.4) of using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during the match.

For Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.

    It is not only Virat and/or Gambhir, almost every one from Delhi that I have come across are crammed with this kind of temper. This is the problem of the oxygen they breathe in Delhi. Sewhag must be an exception.

    All along I have seen Virat as a very aggressive young lad and does not miss an opportunity for using foul language. He is being talked about as a future captain for India so what example is he going to set? Is there any necessity to using foul language (if at all he knows the meaning of the word he uses)in the game of cricket or any sport for that matter. Why does he not take the examples of his senior players especially Sachin who never looses his cool, The Wall, Mr. Cool Captain, i have been watching cricket from my school days and this is the first time I saw Sachin getting hot when given out by none other than Umpire Kulkarni during the IPL, if he was out he would have walked out as he usually does.Not seen Gambhir behaving like Virat so I hope he changes for the better, for himself and for India. Good Luck Virat. Of late Delhi has been in the limelight for so many things which should not be happening and here we go again the Virat - Gambhir spat. Around the world people watch the IPL and what example are you setting Virat? This is not required be cool play positive cricket and you will excel, all the best

    What an ugly scene to see. What an example to set! All Kohli's advertisement money has made him to do what he did last evening on the field. Boycot him and his advertisements and the matches.

    Yeah! I have seen the recent matches of Gambhir and Virat they both become aggressive / Use abusive languages on any dismissal! Which is not necessary as if like a show off! But i wanna remind the good nature of world class legencd playes loke Sachin / Dravid / Kirsten / Dhoni / Steve waugh and many more they never behaved like this on field! And these two are our future of Indian Team!

    These days Virat Kohli is being talked as future captain of India but if he continues to behave in this manner, he can well forget being a captain of India. A captain needs to have a calmness like Dhoni.

    What about Gambhir? He too has lot of ghamand and highly political character. I am not supporting Virat Kohli but we need to see both the sides of same coin.
