Sullia, Apr 25: In two separate complaints filed with the policemen here by two groups against each other, both have claimed that the members of the other group had assaulted them. The incident occurred when a team of BJP workers visited CRC Colony in Bengamale in Aivarnadu village on the evening of Tuesday April 23 to seek votes for their candidate, Angara.

BJP candidate, Angara, and party workers, Navin Kumar Rai Menala, Navin Kumar Sarakere, Shekhar Madtila, Vikram Pai and others had visited CRC Colony, to request the voters to exercise their franchise in favour of their party. The group has accused locals, Sooryakumar, Mohan, Sundar, Manikantha, Jayakumar Shanmugham, Charan Prasad and others of assaulting Shekhar Madtila. In the complaint, the group said that the assaulters blamed the BJP leaders of not helping them out in obtaining caste certificates. The residents of the colony have also been charged with pushing down Navin Kumar Rai Menala and Navin Kumar Sarakere, and abusing Angara with filthy words. The complaint, filed by Chaniyappa Sullia, a BJP worker, also has alleged that the assaulters also posed life threats to them, warning them in the meanwhile, not to come to the colony again for votes.

In a counter-complaint, some locals said that Angara, Navin Kumar Rai, Navin Kumar Sarakere, Ganesh, Kissan Jabale, and Mahesh Jabale, during their visit to the residence of Sanmugham for votes, entered into verbal duel with the locals. They charged Navin Kumar Rai and some other BJP workers of dragging Divya, Chandrakanti, Jayakumari, and Lakshmi, who tried to strike peace between the two groups,  by their hair, and posing life threats to them.
