Mangalore: BJP not communal - Goan legislators woo minority voters

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (DV/SP)

Mangalore, Apr 28: BJP legislators from Goa, Michael Lobo (Calangute), Glenn D’souza Ticolo (Aldona), and Nilesh Cabral (Curchorem), apart from BJP working committee member, Juinho D’Souza, and vice-president, Datta Prasad Kholkar, were in the city on Saturday April 27 to woo minority voters to elect BJP candidates. They will take part in electioneering for BJP candidates for two days.

Addressing the journalists after inaugurating the hi-tech electioneering vehicle with giant screen, Michael Lobo stressed that BJP is wrongly branded as communal. “The Congressmen are spreading the concept that BJP is communal, thereby giving rise to a sense of fear among the minority voters. In Goa, Congress led a corrupt government, before BJP government came to power and began to provide good governance,” he added.

“As much as 70% of minorities make up the population of Goa. It is a tourism-oriented state. With absolute majority Goa’s minorities have voted for BJP to wipe out the corrupt Congress party. Congress tried to finish and destroy Goa and also supported communalism. We minorities mingled with majority people. So I appeal all minorities to vote for BJP. BJP is not communal party but Congress has projected BJP as communal party. Hence more minorities should join BJP. We have also met bishop and appealed for his support

He said that the BJP government in Goa has seven Christian MLAs, and that there have not been any communal clashes since the government assumed power. “The BJP government there has been concentrating on regional development. We request minorities to wholeheartedly support the BJP,” he said.

Karnataka MLC, Capt Ganesh Karnik, said that Bajrang Dal happens to be the youth wing of Vishwa Hindu Parishat, and that BJP does not have any association with it.

BJP office bearers, Nitin Kumar, Rajgopal Rai, and several others were present at the press conference.

A few people from the minorities may indeed vote for BJP by pressing the wrong button(by mistake!) but otherwise the visit of our friends from Goa will have absolutely no impact. Let them enjoy their stay!

If BJP can promise the cheap liquor and petrol like the way they have done in Goa, I may consider voting for BJP. I am speaking for myself and not for others.

Michael Lobo..you better stay in Goa. Goa BJP cannot be compared to Karnataka BJP. Goa chief minister has guts to ban Muthalik and other scoundrels from entering into Goa where as our BJP CM working for terrorist groups. Church attacks, attacks on minority, attacks on unarmed men and women - are these not enough to prove that Karnataka BJP is communal? No need to teach Karnataka people about BJP. People know what is BJP in Karnataka.

We gave chance BJP to prove 5 years that BJP is not a communal party! But BJP failed completly. Moral policing was on peak in twin districts in last 5 years.
This time we should give chance to other parties to prove.

    Dear michael Lobomam,
BJP Karnataka is entirely different from BJP Goa.Here RSS is the driving force for BJP for its bad deeds like corruption, land grabbing etc., whereas in Goa no such force that makes Parickermam to toe its line.Hence there is good adminstration.More over there is no Kalladka Prabhakara Bhat,Jayadeva,Somadeva,Santhosh deva etc., there.
