Baghdad, May 2 (IANS): At least 10 people were killed and 37 wounded in separate bombing and shooting incidents in different parts of Iraq Wednesday, the police said.

Three members of a government-backed paramilitary group were killed and 13 wounded in a car bomb explosion in Garma town near Fallujah city, some 50 km from Baghdad, reported Xinhua citing a police source requesting annonymity.

One of the killed was the leader of the group, whose members were gathering at a military base in the town when the blast occurred.

In another incident in the town, gunmen attacked police forces and exchanged fire with them, killing a policeman and wounding another, the source added.

A civilian was killed and two were wounded by sniper shots in Nu'imiyah area, just south of Fallujah.

Elsewhere, gunmen attacked a police patrol in Baiji town, some 220 km from Baghdad, killing two policemen, including an officer, a local police source said.

In Baghdad, five people were wounded when a car bomb ripped through al-Husseiniyah district in the capital, an interior ministry source said.

In northern Iraq, three policemen were injured when a roadside bomb struck a police patrol in Kirkuk city, some 250 km from Baghdad, the police said.

In the eastern province of Diyala, gunmen shot dead a cleric of a Sunni mosque in the provincial capital city of Baquba, some 65 km from Baghdad, a police source said.

In a separate incident, a civilian was killed and 11 wounded in a roadside bomb explosion late Tuesday night at a coffee shop in a village, some 40 km from Baquba city, the source said.

Also in the province, a civilian was shot dead in the morning by gunmen Baquba, while a policeman and a civilian were wounded in a roadside bomb explosion in Kan'an town, some 20 km from Baquba, the source added.
