One killed in Uttar Pradesh explosion


Lucknow, May 13 (IANS): One person was killed Monday in an explosion in a factory in the Panki industrial area, near Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh Police said.

The explosion took place in a manufacturing unit when a staffer member was filling cylinders with oxygen, Kanpur Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) R.K. Chaturvedi told IANS. The staff member was killed on the spot.

The explosion at the Murari gas factory blew the roof of the factory and the glass panes of many cars standing in the parking lot were shattered.
