Udupi: Manipal University tops list of non-government universities in country

Udupi, May 15: SCImago Research Group of Granada University, Spain, which has published a ranking list of universities, has ranked Manipal University with its headquarters at Manipal, as the best university among non-government universities in India. The ranking list has been prepared on the basis of research papers presented by various universities and organizations over a period of last five years.
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, with 37 institutions under its jurisdiction, has been ranked as the top university in India, with 21,671 papers to its credit. Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, with 8,573 papers, stands second. Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, with 7,215 papers, has been allotted third place.
Manipal University, which has published 2,762 research papers, gets 19th place in the country, 271st place in Asia, and 1,118th place globally. However, when non-government universities alone are concerned, Manipal University emerges as the best in the country.
A release from the university said that Kasturba Medical College, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal Institute of Technology, and Manipal Life Sciences, which operate under Manipal University, have made a number of landmark achievements, stand on par with excellent research institutions.
