Ajman, May 15: Thumbay Moideen, president, Board of Governors, Gulf Medical University was the invited speaker at the 1st International Conference on 'Cooperation in Higher Education within the EURAS' held under the auspices of the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS) on May 9 and 10 at the Florya Campus of Istanbul Aydin University, Istanbul, Turkey.
The main objective of the conference was to bring together the representatives of national authorities/bodies responsible for/or related to Higher Education and Research as well as those of Higher Education Institutions from Eurasian Countries and Turkey in order to review, discuss and exchange information regarding the recent developments and trends in higher education in the region and the rest of the world. The Conference was also held to explore opportunities to promote further cooperation in Higher Education among the member universities.
Moideen was the speaker at the plenary session on Cooperation and Regional Challenges in Higher Education within EURAS countries and higher education institutions. He presented a case study on “Challenges of establishing a self-financed private Medical University and Healthcare Institution in the Middle East”.
A Memorandum of Understanding on the possibilities for academic collaboration, staff and student exchange programs among others was signed on May 9 between The Gulf Medical University, UAE and Istanbul Aydin University (IAU), Istanbul, Turkey represented by Thumbay Moideen, president, Board of Governors and Dr Mustafa AYDIN, president of IAU, Turkey respectively.
