I am not soft like my mother: Rahul Gandhi to party workers

New Delhi, May 24 (PTI): With assembly election just months away, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today asked party leaders in Delhi to work unitedly to ensure a fourth successive victory for the party in the polls and sent out a clear message that indiscipline will not be tolerated by him.

"The Congress President Sonia Gandhi is soft, but I am not. I will not tolerate indiscipline. We must work unitedly," Gandhi was quoted as saying by two MLAs.

At around five-hour long interaction with separate groups of Congress workers at DPCC office in Central Delhi, Gandhi underlined the need for better coordination between the party and the government while asking MLAs, MPs and senior leaders to start preparations for the polls slated for November.

The Congress Vice President held separate meetings of MPs, MLAs, district and block presidents of each of the seven parliamentary constituencies in Delhi. He held a separate meeting with party councillors from all three municipal corporations besides having another meeting with MLAs, MPs and Pradesh Congress Committee delegates.

"Rahul Gandhi told us to work unitedly and prepare for the assembly polls," said Ajay Maken, MP from New Delhi and Union Minister for Housing and Poverty Alleviation.

MP from Chandni Chowk Constituency Kapil Sibal said Gandhi asked party workers to further strengthen the party at the grassroot level. "Rahul Gandhi aims to strengthen the party," he said.

Another MP said Gandhi instructed the party leaders to take the achievements of Sheila Dikshit government as well as UPA government to the people.

A majority of party leaders, who attended the interactions, described their meeting with Gandhi as a "morale booster".

    RAHUL,
EVERY GOOD DECISION IS TAKEN FROM SOFT SPOTS.
    BRAIN AND HEART.
EVERY TOUGH AND ENDURING ORGANS ARE SOFT, LIKE LIVER & KIDNEYS.
IF YOU ARE LIKE ALL THE ABOVE THEN YOU CAN LIVE FULL LIFE OF POLITICS.
IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO BE HARD IN LIFE TO SUCCEED.
LOOK AT YOUR MOTHER, HOW STRONG SHE IS IN SPITE OF BEING SOFT.
    YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE BILLIONS.
IF YOU WANT TO BE SOMETHING THEN BE HONEST AND COMMITTED FURTHERMORE IN LIFE.

Eventhough i'm a congi but i have no hesitation in saying that congress will lose upcoming madhya pradesh and delhi assembly elections..about chattisgarh i am not sure.

Also in 2014 elections UPA will lose and congress will be lucky to get even 100 seats..this all due to lame duck governance, corruption and murky dealings by MMS/Sonia including pathetic handling of coal gate and DLF/Vadra Gate

feel sorry for Rahul/Congress but ultimately "Maadiddunno maharaya" "you reap what you sow" so congis @ centre be prepared for 5 year rule by NDA/NaMo in 2014

Mr. Rahul Gandhi can you tell us what can you do?.....First of all because of Gandhi Nehru family today you are here where you are. Do you think you have been elevated because you are brilliant? This is just to save the Congress. Beware of you own people, they are very cruel not like BJP people. frindly enemies are very dangerous than enemies. Rightly your mother said power is poison in Congress.

The unity and oneness is very much required in Congress party to come out successfully in the assembly and parliament elections. The groupism, under cutting need to be stopped in total and once the candidate is finalised,he become the congress candidate and all have to join and support him ensure winning .Fights for posts, espesially ministreial birth in the cabinet need to be stopped.Hope,Rahul will work on this direction and encourage more youth and new faces including ladies in the party.Thanq.
