Udupi, Jan 2: A young fisherman who had gone fishing was drowned in the sea near Yermal - Bada of Padubidri on Sunday January 1 morning.

The deceased has been identified as Shivanand (20), a resident of Yermal - Bada.  He was the eldest son of Sanjiv Kotian.  The sources also said that he was the only breadwinner of the family.

Shivanand had gone fishing along with 25 other fishermen on Sunday morning at 4 am.  As the boats were leaving the shore, Shivanand lost balance and fell in the water.  The place where he fell in the water is just 10 to 12 feet away from the shore.  But the particular place is considered to be very dangerous place by fishermen. 

Accordingly when other fishermen tried to get hold of Shivanand, their efforts went in vain. Later on when the expert divers were summoned to the place.  But even they were not able to fish out Shivanand.  It was only in the evening that Shivanand's body was found in the same where he had fallen down from the boat.  The locals then, brought his body to the shore before the autopsy was done and body handed over to the family members.

Padubidri police have booked a case in this regard.
