Moodbidri, Jan 2: Veena alias Leena Fernandes (38), a resident of Shirtady near here who had sustained serious burn injuries in a fire mishap on December 25, died in the Wenlock Hospital of Mangalore on Friday December 30.
Leena, wife of Ligory Fernandes had sustained burn injuries in a accidental fire mishap on Christmas Day. She poured some kerosene oil into the oven after fire had extinguished. Since it was getting late for lunch and rice had not yet boiled, she, in a hurry, poured kerosene oil to the fire so that fire burns properly. But that turned disastrous as fire caught her.
As a result she sustained serious burn injuries and was admitted to Wenlock Hospital at Mangalore. But she succumbed to the injuries on Friday December 30 morning.
She is survived by husband, a daughter and a son.
