Udupi, Jan 3: T Shyam Bhat who was the deputy commissioner of the district for one year and three months has been transferred to Endowment Department.  ZP CEO R Shantraj has been appointed in-charge DC in his place.

He handed over the charge to R Shantraj at an official ceremony here on Monday January 2 evening.  Speaking on the occasion he said that he has had the satisfaction of having done justice to his post during his tenure as deputy commissioner. "I have had the privilage of being close to the people during the Tsunami and the floods which marred the district. I feel that I have done justice to my duty.  I must thank everyone who have associated with me in this period especially my own staff in the office, the journalists and people's representatives," he added.

He has been appointed commissioner to the State Endowment Department and will assume charge on Wednesday January 4.
