Hiresave, Jan 3: Three policemen, including a sub-Inspector, were seriously injured when their vehicle, a pilot van to the motorcade of Chief Minister N Dharam Singh, was hit by a tempo near Hiresave on the Bangalore-Mangalore highway here .
Police said the tempo was coming in the wrong direction and the driver fled the scene as soon as the incident took place.
Singh was on his way to Shravanabelagola to review the arrangements for the first Mahamastakabhisheka of the millennium. He was accompanied by transport minister and party chief Mallikarjuna Kharge and public works minister H D Revanna.
Singh immediately alighted from the vehicle in which he was travelling and ensured that the injured policemen were admitted to a closeby hospital at Chennarayapatna in Hassan district.
