Mangalore, Jan 4: Shree Vidyasagar Swamiji of Krishnapur Math who is all set take over as the head of Paryaya Math, Udupi was accorded civic honour at Town Hall here on Tuesday January 3. Mayor K Ashraf and Karnataka Bank chairman Anatkrishna jointly accorded civic honour to Shree Vidyasagar Swamiji on behalf of the entire populace of the city.
Responding to the honour bestowed on him, Vidyasagar Swamiji said that the religious leaders and religious institutions must do the work of faith formation among the people while giving importance to local culture and traditions. "None of the political systems can do justice for faith and religious duties of the person. That is why politics and religion must be separate entities and one should not interfere in the matters of the other," he added.
Mayor K Ashraf, Suratkal MLA Krishna Palemar, Karnataka Bank chairman Anantkrishna too addressed the gathering. Canara Bank general manager R K Madhukar, Vasudev Asranna of Kateel, Sudhakar Rao Pejavar too were present on the occasion.
