Rome, Jun 2 (IANS/AKI): A decorator in the Italian island of Sicily attacked his ex-wife's new partner with an axe, almost severing the man's right arm.The incident took place in Gela city.
The decorator, Crocifisso Di Gennaro, said to be consumed with jealousy towards his love rival Alessandro Pennata, forced the man's car off the road near Gela's cemetery by ramming it repeatedly with his own vehicle.
As the two men got out of their cars, Di Gennaro raised an axe over his head and charged at Pennata, bringing it down on his right arm, which the man had raised to defend himself.
Di Gennaro fled the scene, dumping the axe in a waste bin.
Several people witnessed the attack and police later arrested Di Gennaro at his home. He faces charges of aggravated assault.
Doctors treating Pennata managed to save his arm although the axe had cut through to the bone.
