Sreesanth denied bail, cops invoke MCOCA against him

NEW DELHI, Jun 4 (PTI) : Pacer S Sreesanth was on Tuesday denied bail by a local court and his judicial custody was extended till June 18 in the IPL spot-fixing scandal.

Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankit Chavan and 23 others were arrested from various places after Delhi Police intercepted telephone calls of those linked to the Mumbai underworld.

Earlier, Delhi Police invoked stringent provisions of MCOCA against Sreesanth and 25 others arrested in the scandal.

Police sources said the stringent provisions of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) was invoked to strengthen the case against those involved in the spot-fixing scandal.

According to the provisions of the act, confessions made before an officer of rank above deputy commissioner of police are admissible as evidence in a court of law.

MCOCA was formulated in 1994 to tackle organised crime which abetted narco-terrorism and raised huge amount of illegal money.

    Right from the day of Dhoni's debut I knew he was a crook. It was very much evident in his moves. Once he became captain, he started favoring his favorites. This was clearly shown when he started ignoring his senior cricketers who were much talented & more consistent & efficient than him. However he couldn't touch Tendulkar.
    In my opinion Sourav Ganguly was the best captain, & his 2003 world cup team was the best team India had so far.

    He killed his golden egg laying goose. Now, let the Mallu enjoy the fruits of his misdeeds and call his CM for help. Why no protest in Kerala for his arrest as it happened when he was slapped by Singh the King Bajji.

    Sreesanth deserves this and should be kept in Jail for life for the Great Achievements he has done in Cricket. Jail is the right place fir this MALLU. Now let him call his CM ?

    If Srishant had become member of RITI Sports Management Company owned by Dhoni, then he would never have been caught in the Spot Fixing Scam. Instead of becoming member of Dhoni's Company Srishant floated his own Sports company, which angered vested interest in Sports marketing companies and trapped Srishant.
    Yesterday's Economic Times has revealed all this.

    V darasingh was arrested for betting and Sreesanth was arrested for cheating. The cases are different as per Indian system.

    INVOKING MCOCA PROVISIONS ARE RIDICULOUS....THIS CASE HEREBY WILL BE WASHED OUT.IF SO LET THEM INVOKE MCOCA FOR ALL ACCUSED OF SPOT OR NON SPOT FIXING OF CRICKET MATCH.THIS DRACONIAN LAW DIFFERS STATE TO STATE HAVING LITERALLY SAME PROVISIONS.
